Join UTLA members and other unions for a march and rally to unite, Wisconsin-style, against all attacks on workers and communities!
Organize your colleagues, parents and your community to take part in the multi-union march on Saturday, March 26. With LAUSD’s attacks on us and our students, including massive layoffs, attacks on seniority, evaluations based on student test scores, giving away and restructuring of schools , we must take action now. The Wisconsin labor fight-back against anti-union legislation shows us how broad a movement we need. Now is the time to take action and stand together so that workers in L.A. are not stripped of their rights.
UTLA members will be there….will you?
*** ONLINE SIGN-UP FORM ***: If you have not already done so, please complete the online RSVP form . This will help us know the numbers who will be attending.
10:00 am: Begin the march at the Los Angeles Convention Center. UTLA members will meet on the northwest corner of Pico and Figueroa (at the beginning of the march), so we can march together. Look for the UTLA banner and red UTLA flag. (see map)
RIF's Teachers: If you are a member who has received a RIF notice, we urge you to march together directly behind the UTLA banner.
12:30 pm: Join the mass rally at Pershing Square.
(L.A. based band Ozomatli will be playing!)
Bring your picket signs from your school’s March 15 action and feel free to make your own hand made signs... and wear your UTLA red!
We suggest that folks use Metro Rail to get to locations as bus lines along the march will be re-routed in order to facilitate our event.
METRO to LA Convention Center (March Start Location): The Metro Rail Blue Line stops at Flower and Pico (PICO STATION), directly across from the Los Angeles Convention Center. Metro Link riders should take the westbound Red Line or Purple Line from Union Station, and then transfer to the Blue Line at 7th St./Metro Center station. If the Blue Line is available, go to the Pico stop.
*** BLUE LINE METRO ALERT: The blue line between 7th/Center Metro and Washington may be under repair on Saturday morning. There should be bus shuttles to Pico.
METRO to Pershing Square (Rally Location): Ride the Red Line toward downtown Los Angeles and exit Pershing Square (5th Street ).
