Initiative Vote - Feb 2012

A petition about RIF and teacher evaluation has been submitted to UTLA for a vote. The question before the membership will be:

Shall UTLA's contractual negotiations with LAUSD include a moratorium on all RIFs for all UTLA bargaining unit members through June 30, 2014, as part of a revised, phased-in, teacher-driven evaluation system mutually agreed upon by UTLA and LAUSD?

Initiative signatures submitted to UTLA.

Friday, Dec. 16
Full text of the Initiative printed in the United Teacher newspaper.

Friday, Jan. 27
 Pro and Con statements printed in the United Teacher newspaper.

Wed. Feb. 1
Voting packets picked up by chapter chairs at Area meetings.
(DROP LOCATIONS)

Mon. Feb. 6 thru Thurs. Feb. 9
Authorization vote at school sites.
Members may also vote from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at  UTLA, 3303 Wilshire Blvd., 10th Floor at the receptionist window.

Thurs. Feb. 9
Chapter chairs or designees return ballots to designated UTLA Area sites from 3:00 to 4:45 p.m.
Ballots will also be accepted at the UTLA headquarters, 2nd floor Auditorium, until 12:00 noon on Friday, February 10.

Fri. Feb. 10 
Ballots counted at UTLA. Results faxed to chapter chairs at school sites and posted on utla.net.

Fri. Feb. 24
Area-by-area results  published in the United Teacher newspaper.
