High Priority Schools - UTLA's response to Superintendent Brewer's plan
Quick Action on 44 “High Priority” Schools Works Teacher response may change Superintendent’s Plan.
Superintendent Brewer is pushing for a separate mini-District for so-called “high priority” Schools. In multiple meetings, teachers, health and human services professionals and administrators have told Brewer that this is a bad idea. Instead of top-down reform that comes from bureaucrats, teachers must be allowed to create local reform that meets the needs of the students they serve, and the District must support that reform.
UTLA’s policy remains the same. We will support what the UTLA members at the schools want, and we will actively fight changes that UTLA members know will NOT work for their students.
