During the 1940s & 1950s it is estimated that thousands of teachers lost their jobs during the McCarthy period witch hunt.  In Los Angeles, possibly hundreds lost their jobs in education, leaving a legacy of fear and intimidation while denying women and men the right to pursue their careers.

On Thursday, November 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the UTLA Auditorium, hear the stories of some of those who lost their jobs as well as educators who currently face similar threats to academic freedom.  For more information,  contact Joshua Pechthalt, UTLA/AFT vice president at jpechthalt@utla.net.
