Jun, 2009: School-based Hunger Strikers protesting layoffs and increased class sizes

LAUSD families, teachers and community members have been gathering for nightly camp-outs outside of schools highly impacted by teacher layoffs. The camp outs began at John Liechty Middle School, and were also held at Lincoln High School, Santee Learning Complex and Miguel Contreras Learning Center. On Thursday, June 11, the camps and the hunger strikers moved directly to the steps of LAUSD headquarters.
