UTLA takes legal action against LAUSD to ensure teacher approval of Pilot schools

UTLA statement regarding Fremont reconstitution.

July 6 2010: United Teachers Los Angeles is committed to working with all stakeholders at each school within LAUSD to make them outstanding schools for ALL students.  However, the decision by the LAUSD to reconstitute Fremont High School was wrong.   Replacing the teachers at a struggling school has simply not worked, as study after study has shown. (Read more) »

Teachers and parents work with UTLA to submit Letters of Intent for all Public School Choice Round 2 schools

June 30, 2010 – Teachers, parents, and administrators, working with United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) and the Los Angeles School Development Institute (LASDI), have submitted Letters of Intent (LOI) for the eight focus schools and nine new schools in LAUSD’s Public School Choice (PSC) Round 2. Teacher union’s governing body approves new reform model

May 13, 2010 – United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) announced today that its 350 member House of Representatives voted last night to approve a tentative agreement with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to formalize a new reform model, Expanded School Based Management Model (ESBMM), and make it available to up to 30 schools by June 30, 2012.  (Read more) »

UTLA statement regarding Superior Court ruling against LAUSD in ACLU lawsuit

May 13, 2010: LAUSD could have prevented the court case
UTLA recognizes the severe impact on student learning when schools lose a large percentage of teachers and health and human services professionals.
