Last September 5, President Trump tried to put an end to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, better known as the DACA program, which since 2012 has been the only immigration relief available for thousands of immigrant youth who immigrated with their parents or guardians to the U.S. at a very young age.

News of Supt. Michelle King’s Medical Leave, Retirement

As educators across Los Angeles, we send our support to Dr. Michelle King, and stand in steadfast solidarity with her in her battle against cancer. As a Los Angeles Unified School District student, parent, support staff, educator, and administrator, Dr. King brought decades of public education experience to her role as Superintendent.

President's Perspective
Our connections with each other make us strong

We don’t have to look too far back into 2017 to be reminded of the importance of our connections with each other, in schools and across schools, and the importance of our union to all of us. All schools in the San Fernando Valley and 17 schools affected by the Skirball fire will be closed Thursday, December 7, and Friday, December 8. This includes all schools in Local District Northeast, all schools in Local District Northwest, and 17 schools in Local District West.

UTLA Statement Regarding Recent Accusations on Social Media

As an organization on the forefront of the fight against racism and sexism, and building the movement for social justice, UTLA honors women across the country who have come forward against sexual harassment and abuse.

President's Perspective
Organizing and actions work

How dare the district spend two years threatening our healthcare! How dare LAUSD threaten to punish educators for LAUSD’s financial dilemmas when the district has done little over the past few years to address California being 46th out of 50 states in per-pupil funding.

Thousands attend our 'Save Our Schools' regional rallies

Thousands, who attended our raucous rallies on November 16, stretched from Harbor City to North Hills displayed the positive spirit of public education while sending a serious message about what’s at stake if we don’t stop starving our schools and start supporting educators.
