This Charter Task Force was established in large part because of pressure generated by our strike. The majority recommendations of the Task Force are essential starting points in the fights for student equity and healthy public schools, and in the fight against deregulation and privatization. We commend the Task Force on those majority recommendations. We are disappointed, however, that there is no call for a charter cap or moratorium. While the unanimous recommendations are less important, the one regarding saturation deserves more exploration. We will continue building the movement for full school funding and against privatization.
